Hi everybody!!
This week, we had to watch a interesting video about Food Forests.
Came a question about this topic.... It is possible to implement these systems in Chile?
Since my perspective, Chile have ALL the necessary agronomic conditions: A varied weather, richs soils (many of them from volcanic origin), the knowledge and even the agronomists´s capacity and experience. Chile is a country with a extremely huge agronomic potential and It could turns someday in a food supplier country.
But Chile has a problem. Nothing of the Chile´s advantages in this topic are gonna work because there is an obstacle that is necessary overcome to go ahead with such proyects............... Chile....has not....culture.
At least for now, we have not the requested ecological approach. Our country is focused in maximize the production and exporting to another countries. Although arguably there is a growing intention on implement more environmentally friendly solutions, are the big companies and the leaders, they who runs the country, who take the final decision, and the prime always is "produce the most possible right now, Who cares about sustainability?" It needs a long time and territory to carry out something like that, but who is gonna fund It?
So, to implement a proyect like food forests, is necessary change the thinking of the population. Our duty is teach the importance of sustainability, so that future generations can cooperate to make more ecological crops and focus in a world where primes satisfy the basics requirements, and not the money
Before we learn to run, we must learn to walk.
what do you think about all of this?
